*Open Space*

This year we have also made space on the programme for you to set the agenda. Our Open Space session at 4.30pm on day one is time set aside for you to meet on whatever topics you wish to put forward during the day, or to get together to discuss issues which have been raised during the event.

Register your interests on the social networking site for the conference, or if you prefer leave a comment below. This will give us an idea of hot topics and discussion groups and give you chance to make your own connections with like minded delegates.

Chief Officers of NAVCA members have a ‘peer group’ session on Tuesday 16th September from 12 noon to 1pm. Only an hour so we need to be focussed to use the time well. Please use this blog to suggest the topics you would like to raise with your peers. If you prefer to be confidential please email me kevin.curley@navca.org.uk

Can we meet and not talk about Capacity Builders!

    See you in Nottingham.

    Kevin

    Dear colleagues

would you be interested in attending an exciting governance workshop on the first day of the conference (from 4.30 pm -5.30pm) to introduce a new best practice self assessment governance framework which I’ve developed?

Its already been tested with several local and national charities and it will be available to charities via a website from July 2008.

We need 20 people to commit to attending so please let us know!

    best wishes

Ruth Morgan Says – Dorset Community Action

I am coming to the conference with a colleague and we are not sure what peer group to join, has anyone got any suggestions.
My role is Team Manager – Third Sector Support, which includes, amongst other things, governance advice and support, funding advice, village and community halls and network development (Voice Project).
My colleague works on a project entitled 3D Procurement which supports and gives advice to groups wishing to tender for local government contracts.
    Any thoughts??

    Safeguarding in the VCS.

    Hi everyone
The NSPCC has recently arranged for a Safe communities toolkit to be sent out free to every NAVCA organisation in England which hasn’t already had one.
We’ve also got a stall at the conference in September that we will both be at plus one of our colleagues Paul who is evaluating the toolkit.
We were hoping to make use of an Open Space slot to further consider safeguarding issues for VCS groups, whether they are big or small, receive funding or not.
We are really keen to know whether there is any interest in this so we could plan some sort of programme working around people’s requirements.
Get back to us and we’ll hopefully see you there…
    Helen & Simon
